Why runinclusive?

In March 2024, we saw something online that stayed with us.

An Instagram story shared within our local running community contained a homophobic message. It was posted by someone we knew — someone we’d chatted with over coffee, supported at races, and shared space with as runners.

It was upsetting, and it reminded us that not everyone feels safe or supported in running spaces.

There is no place for hate in running.

While visibility and support for the LGBTQ+ community has grown, we’ve also seen an increase in hostility towards difference — not just towards LGBTQ+ people, but towards many marginalised groups.

We knew we wanted to respond, but in a positive way.

So we created runinclusive — an identity runners can wear to quietly show support and welcome. It stands for inclusion of sexuality, gender, race, age, ability, beliefs, and identity — and everything that makes someone who they are.

Running should be something everyone can enjoy.
Running solo, with friends, or with people you’ll meet along the way — whether that’s at your local parkrun or a larger organised event.

runinclusive is not about being loud. It is about being visible in a way that helps people feel welcome.

Our t shirts and running apparel are designed to be comfortable, but they also carry meaning. We try to keep our prices fair so everyone can take part in building a more welcoming running community.

Wearing runinclusive is a simple way to show that you believe running should be welcoming, kind, and respectful.

If you see someone else in one of our designs, feel free to say hello. Those small moments of friendliness and connection are a big part of what this is all about.

Together, we can help make running spaces feel more open, more supportive, and more inclusive for everyone.

About us

We’re Andrew and Hüseyin, and we met through our shared love of running.

A chance comment of encouragement on one of Andrew’s Instagram posts led to Hüseyin visiting Swansea — and, eventually, staying.

Over the years that followed, Hüseyin moved to Swansea, we got married, and Blue (our Cockapoo) joined the family.

We’re not elite athletes. We’re runners who enjoy getting out for a run, managing the odd injury, and taking part in the occasional race.

The idea behind runinclusive grew out of our love of running and our belief that everyone deserves to feel welcome when they lace up their trainers.
